Hi, I am Maya Collins. I first came across fruit flies when I had a soft banana in my kitchen which had a fly by the fruit bowl and I shooed it away. Within a few minutes another showed up by the sink. The very next evening I found them in my trash can, by my coffee mug, and flying around my kitchen counter.
I looked for solutions on how to get rid of fruit flies right away, but what I found was that which adult flies I caught was just the tip of the problem. Also I had to track down the fruit or damp spot where they were breeding. The easy plan I present below includes a full cleanup with a vinegar trap which in turn takes care of the cause and the flies you see.
Start With This One-Night Cleanup
